President of AB SCIEX

Rainer Blair comes to AB SCIEX from Videojet, where he served as its president for North America & Europe. Prior to joining Danaher, he was president and CEO for MAPEI Americas, a $2.3 billion global, diversified construction chemical corporation. He had full P&L and balance sheet authority over four SBUs with annual revenue of $420 million, 1250 employees, 15 manufacturing sites including sales/marketing, manufacturing/operations and R&D in NAFTA and South America.

Before MAPEI, Rainer spent over 15 years with BASF Group on three continents, in progressively larger roles including marketing manager, business manager, CEO of BASF Argentina, and Group Vice President, Global Automotive Coatings and Coatings NAFTA.

He received his BA in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst and his MS in Business Administration from Boston University.

 


Markus Lusser, Vice President of Global Sales and SupportMarkus Lusser

Vice President of Global Sales and Support

Markus Lusser comes to AB SCIEX most recently from Carestream Health, where he served as its Senior Vice President, Global Medical Sales & Services in the sales and service organization for the company’s digital medical imaging solutions, healthcare IT solutions, medical films and printing solutions businesses.

Prior to Carestream Health, he served as Vice President Global Sales and Marketing for the Molecular Imaging business unit of Siemens Healthcare. During a successful 20 year career at Siemens, Mr. Lusser held progressively responsible marketing, product management, sales and service leadership roles. He earned an Electrical Engineering Degree in Telecommunications and Electronics from the College of Electrical Engineering in Innsbruck, Austria (HTBLA).

 


Andy Boorn, Chief Operating OfficerAndy Boorn

Chief Operating Officer

Andy Boorn is a well-respected leader with more than 30 years experience in the life science industry, both as a senior executive and as a scientist. Formerly president of MDS Analytical Technologies, Mr. Boorn had held several important leadership roles at MDS over the past three decades in product development, product management, business development and operations. He first joined MDS Sciex in 1983 as a senior research scientist.

Before his work at MDS, Mr. Boorn spent three years as a research scientist with SpectraMetrics, a division of Beckman Instruments. He also worked for six years as a scientific officer in the Laboratory of the Government Chemist in the United Kingdom.

A native of London, Mr. Boorn spent his formative years in the U.K. and received a B.Sc. in chemistry from the University of Greenwich. He then studied in North America, earning a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Georgia Institute of Technology in the United States, and an MBA from the University of Toronto in Canada.

 


Gordon Logan, Senior Vice President of Research and DevelopmentGordon Logan

Senior Vice President of Research and Development

Gordon Logan is responsible for R&D at AB SCIEX. He was formerly senior vice president of product development at MDS Analytical Technologies with strategic and operational responsibility. He brings more than 20 years of experience in the life science industry. Before joining MDS in 2006, Gordon was a director at Labformatics Ltd., a laboratory management consultancy. Prior to this, he spent most of his career in the instrument business at VG and Fisons instruments, which became part of Thermo Electron, where he became president and managing director of the Informatics Division. He earned an MSc in biotechnology/ biochemical engineering at the University of Birmingham, UK and a Ph.D. in bioreactor optimization & biosensor design from the University of Sunderland, UK.

 


Dave Hick, Vice President and General Manager of the Pharmaceutical and Proteomics BusinessDave Hicks

Vice President and General Manager of the Pharmaceutical and Proteomics Business

Dave Hicks is responsible for business operations of the pharmaceutical and proteomics business at AB SCIEX, including strategy and product management. He was formerly vice president of the pharmaceutical and proteomics business in the mass spectrometry division of Life Technologies. He has more than 20 years of experience in the life science industry, primarily with Applied Biosystems. He earned a M.S. degree in plant science from the University of New Hampshire.

Vice President and General Manager of the Applied Markets and Clinical Research Business

Joe Anacleto is responsible for the Applied Markets and Clinical Research business at AB SCIEX, including strategy and product management. He was formerly vice president of the applied markets and clinical research business in the mass spectrometry division of Life Technologies. He has more than 20 years of experience in the life science industry, primarily with the Applied Biosystems/MDS Analytical Technologies joint venture. He earned a Ph.D. in 1993 from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on the application of CE-, SFC- and LC-MS/MS for environmental and food applications (pesticides and marine toxins).

 


Doug Onesko, Vice President of Global Operations and ServicesDoug Onesko

Vice President of Global Operations and Services

Doug Onesko is responsible for global operations and services at AB SCIEX. This includes consulting, protocol development, support and logistics functions, as well as instrument repair and optimization. He has more than 30 years of experience in the analytical and life science business, primarily with Perkin Elmer where he began as a field engineer and later moving into key leadership positions in service and sales management. He joined Applied Biosystems in 2005 and then Life Technologies where he was most recently vice president of global service. He earned a B.S. in engineering and an MBA from Washington University in St Louis, Missouri.

 


Ronald F Bonner, Principal ScientistRonald F. Bonner

Principal Scientist

Ron Bonner is a principal scientist at AB SCIEX. Prior to AB SCIEX, he worked for MDS Analytical technologies. He joined MDS Sciex in 1984 as a research scientist focusing on computer systems for data acquisition and processing. He is now a principal scientist and director, applied research, whose previous roles included co-head of the software development group. He is also a visiting scientist at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute in Toronto.

 


Thomas R. Covey, Prinicipal ScientistThomas R. Covey

Principal Scientist

Tom Covey is a principal scientist at AB SCIEX. Prior to AB SCIEX, he worked for MDS Analytical Technologies. He joined MDS Sciex as a research scientist in 1989 and became principal research scientist in 1991. Tom's main research focus is ionization techniques and sensitivity issues. From 2000 to 2003, Tom was also vice-president of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry.

 


James Hager, Principal ScientistJames Hager

Principal Scientist

Jim Hager is a principal scientist at AB SCIEX. Prior to AB SCIEX, he worked for MDS Analytical Technologies. He joined MDS Sciex in 1987 as a Research Scientist. In addition to working in research, he has worked in product development and product definition. Jim has worked on both the ICP-MS and LC-MS/MS product lines. His current research is in the field of linear ion trap mass spectrometry.

 


Bruce A Thomson, Principal ScientistBruce A. Thomson

Principal Scientist

Bruce Thomson is a principal scientist at AB SCIEX. Prior to AB SCIEX, he worked for MDS Analytical Technologies. He joined MDS Sciex in 1978 as a research scientist. He was a senior scientist and manager with the research department and is now a principal research scientist. His research focuses on the development of new ion optics, vacuum systems and mass analyzers. Bruce is also an adjunct professor in York University's Chemistry Department.
